There's been quite a ruckus about DeLaSalle High School's proposal to lease park land on Nicollet Island, so they can expand their athletic field. So far, the most comprehensive overviews seem to be in the Northeaster (they're not online (yet?), so here's an archival copy in both .doc and .txt formats) and the Skyway News (.doc and .txt). There are more details from the Star Tribune (archived .doc and .txt copies), as well as other articles in the Skyway News, the initial article (.doc and .txt), a statement from the school president (.doc and .txt), and, one of the most recent (.doc and .txt). We had been linking directly to the Skyway News, but there's something wacky going on with their archives lately.
In case you thought we never read anything but the Star Tribune for our Park News, Annie would like to recommend the Parks coverage by Scott Russell published in the Southwest Journal, as well as in the Skyway News.
Here's an archive of a June, 2004, Star Tribune article about the long-range planning for Minnehaha Creek.
I'm afraid this page is more of a scrapbook than a running tickertape of the very latest.
The Minneapolis Park Watch website, however, does an excellent job of keeping up on Park issues featured in the news and elsewhere.
